For the past three summers, the National Pork Board and its employees have planted and harvested a Corporate Giving Garden.
The National Pork Board purchases supplies for the garden and employees volunteer their time as part of the organization’s wellness program.
The National Pork Board works with the Clive Community Services staff to select vegetables to plant based on the preferences of the clients at the food pantry.
Since 2018, more than 1,000 pounds of produce has been donated by the National Pork Board to food insecure neighbors in the Clive community.
The Clive Community Health + Wellness Initiative supports organizations and local businesses in starting community gardens. We provide the expertise and guidance through our Eat Well Task Force partners such as Eat Greater Des Moines. We can also help coordinate volunteers through other Task Force team members such as our Waukee APEX student team. We usually like to connect local food pantry sites with your excess food and will help facilitate the set up as needed.
Contact us if you are in the Clive or surrounding area and would like help getting a garden established.
